---- — TRAVERSE CITY — One Traverse City homeowner had a rude awakening, thanks to a noisy intruder.

Traverse City Police Department officers are investigating an early Tuesday home invasion in the 200 block of West 11th Street.

The homeowner, a 69-year-old woman, awoke to noise coming from her downstairs kitchen at about 1:40 a.m. She went to investigate the noise and found its source — a male subject with a flashlight in the bathroom area.

Capt. Brian Heffner said the homeowner yelled at the intruder and the suspect fled.

"He jumped out the window he broke into," he said.

Investigators found the suspect removed the screen to a bathroom window and climbed through into the residence. The suspect dropped his flashlight and screwdriver as he fled.

The victim could not provide a physical description because the suspect was shining a flashlight at her before jumping out the window.

A tracking dog followed the suspect's path two blocks, but lost the track where it appears the suspect fled on a bicycle or in a car.

Police are asking the members of the public with information to contact the Traverse City Police Department Detective Bureau at 231-995-5152 or the Silent Observer Tip Line at 947-8477.
