New chair lift planned at Crystal

THOMPSONVILLE, — A new chairlift will be part of an update at Crystal Mountain Resort next winter.

The existing Buck Chairlift, installed in 1978, will be replaced with a new Skytrac Quad Lift, similar to the Loki Quad Lift installed in 2011, but without a loading conveyor. In addition to the new lift, subtle contour modifications to the Buck slope and expansion of the skiable terrain on the south side are planned.

Crystal is also improving its snowmaking and grooming systems with at least six new snow guns and will begin to automate its snowmaking to enable faster startups early in the ski season.

The school is a non‑profit project of the Michigan Council of Trout Unlimited, a fisheries conservation organization. The school is open to everyone; membership in Trout Unlimited is not required.
