Vagina Monologues

TRAVERSE CITY — Auditions for the 2013 production of Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues" will be held from 7-9 p.m. today, Feb. 6, and Wednesday, Feb. 13, in Northwestern Michigan College's West Hall conference room. A script will be provided.

Rehearsals for selected cast will be held Wednesdays, Feb. 20 and 27 and March 6 and 13. The performance will be at 7 p.m. March 14 in Milliken Auditorium. The production is sponsored by NMC's Office of Student Life.

NMC Cinema Series

TRAVERSE CITY — The Community Cinema Series continues Thursday, Feb. 7, with "Soul Food Junkies."

The film will be shown at 7 p.m. in Milliken Auditorium, 1701 E. Front St. It explores the history and social significance of soul food to black cultural identity and its effect on African American health.

Admission is free and the public is welcome. In addition, the Dennos Museum Center will offer free admission from 5 to 8 p.m. For details, visit www.dennosmuseum.org or call 995-1055.

OM history group

TRAVERSE CITY — Mary (Weatherholt) Avery will discuss her family's history on Old Mission Peninsula at the Thursday, Feb. 7, meeting of the Old Mission Peninsula Historical Society.

Valentine's meal

GRAYLING — The community is invited to a Valentine's dinner on Thursday, Feb. 7.

The meal will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center, 308 Lawndale. The cost is $2.50 for ages 60 and older; $5 for ages 59 and younger.

Hospice training

LUDINGTON — Hospice of Michigan will hold training in Ludington for individuals interested in being hospice volunteers. Hospice of Michigan's Ludington office serves Benzie, Lake, Manistee, and Mason counties.

Volunteer hours are flexible with no minimum hourly requirements. Hospice welcomes retirees, working people, and youth volunteers beginning at age 14.

Training will be held Saturday, Feb. 9, in Ludington. There is no charge but registration is required no later than Thursday, Feb. 7. Training will also be held soon in the Manistee area. To register or for details, contact Jean, 845-3422 or jtaylor@hom.org.
