Man charged with sexual assault

BELLAIRE — A man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman at a softball tournament in Antrim County last year was formally charged with the crime this week.

Robert Glen Puroll, 41, is charged with three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. Antrim County prosecutor Charles Koop said in a press release that Puroll is accused of assaulting a female acquaintance in August 2011 at Craven park in Bellaire during a softball tournament.

The victim said she was sleeping in a camper when she awoke to a man sexually assaulting her.

"Mr. Puroll used force and coercion to commit the sexual assaults on the victim, who was asleep and intoxicated at the time of the incident," Koop said.

Puroll was previously arrested on the same offenses in August 2011, but charges were dismissed pending forensic tests by the Michigan State Police. Koop's office re-filed the charges this week after receiving test results from the lab.
