Traffic stop reveals 45 grams of crack

THOMPSONVILLE — Authorities said two Saginaw men arrested on their way to Traverse City were transporting marijuana, a large amount of crack cocaine and $1,300 in cash.

Michigan State Police stopped the vehicle Saturday for traveling 75 mph in a 55 mph zone on M-115 near Thompsonville in Manistee County. The driver was on federal parole for drug crimes and had a suspended driver’s license.

Michigan State Police Sgt. Scott Bates said the 26- and 39-year-old suspects were found with 45 grams of crack cocaine.

“The street value could be up to $100 per gram,” he said.

No additional information on the suspects was available until their arraignment. They were being held in Manistee County Jail on charges of possession of cocaine with intent to the deliver.
