Holiday meal

GRAWN — The public is invited to Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, Nov. 28, at Grawn United Methodist Church, 1260 W. Silver Lake Road. The free meal will be served from noon-2 p.m. For details, call the Rev. Mary Brown, 357-4506.

Authors support book store

TRAVERSE CITY — Five local authors and one illustrator will show their support for independent book store Horizon Books by acting as “booksellers” on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 30.

Richard Alan Hall, author of “Remarkable,” will help shoppers pick out books from 10 a.m.-noon. From 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Elizabeth Kane Buzzelli, author of “Dead Little Dolly,” Mardi Link, author of “Bootstrapper,” and Aaron Stander, author of “Death in a Summer Colony,” will be on hand to assist shoppers. Starting at noon, Jerry Dennis, author of “It’s Raining Frogs and Fishes” will help customers with their book selections.

He will be joined at 2 p.m. by Glenn Wolff, illustrator of “It’s Raining Frogs and Fishes.”

‘Stop senior hunger’ food drive

TRAVERSE CITY — Comfort Keepers, an in-home senior care provider, will hold a “Stop Senior Hunger” Food Drive on Saturday, Nov. 30.

The drive will be held from 9-11 a.m. at the Grand Traverse County Commission on Aging headquarters, 529 W. Front St., across from Burritt’s Market. Donations of non-perishable food items will be collected for the Aging Commission’s “Baskets of Bounty” program.

‘Share and Learn’ Party

BENZONIA — Grow Benzie will host a “Share and Learn” party for the start up of its Incubator Kitchen.

The party celebrates the growth of locally-made food products and businesses. It starts at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at Grow Benzie, 5885 M-115, with music, followed at 5:30 p.m. with a potluck dinner and food samples. Presentations by emerging food entrepreneurs start at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited.
