Pig roast, music

BUCKLEY — Grant United Methodist Church will sponsor an afternoon of food, fun and music on Saturday, Sept. 7.

The Community Pig Roast and Music Fest will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at the church, 10999 Karlin Road. In addition to the meal, there will be live country music, children’s games, a silent auction and a dunk tank.

Freewill offerings will be accepted and proceeds will help send community children to Summer Games Youth Camp at Camp Albright in Reed City. Call 269-3981 or email grantumcbuckley@gmail.com for details.

‘Family and Bikes’

TRAVERSE CITY — Families are invited to join Oryana, TART Trails, and McLain Cycle for “Family and Bikes on the Boardman” on Saturday, Sept. 7.

The event starts at the Boardman Lake Trailhead near Oryana, with bike safety checks and bike decorating from 10 a.m. to noon. Families can start their ride along the Boardman Lake Trail to Premier Park and back between 11 a.m. and noon. The ride is approximately three miles round-trip and healthy snacks will be available at Premier Park.

Cottage Coffee

TRAVERSE CITY — Clinical pharmacist Kathleen Brown, Rph, will discuss medications at the Tuesday, Sept. 10, Cottage Coffee program.

Brown’s program will start at 10 a.m. at Hawthorn Cottage at the Grand Traverse Pavilions off South Elmwood Avenue. She will focus on what consumers should know about medications and also will answer questions.

Preschool playdate

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Cooperative Preschool will host a playdate on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at its Hilly Hollow playground.
