Lyme disease support

TRAVERSE CITY — A Northern Michigan Lyme Disease Support Group meeting will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at Living Hope's Chalet, 610 Three Mile Road.

Country Hoedown

TRAVERSE CITY — The Senior Center Network will host an end-of-summer Country Hoedown on Friday, Aug. 23.

The celebration will start at 7 p.m. at Twin Lakes Park on North Long Lake Road. A DJ will be playing country favorites and line dancing instructors will be on hand to teach several new steps. New this year is contra dancing. Regular line dancing starts at 8 p.m. and beginners are welcome.

Alden Arts Festival

ALDEN — Local artists will offer work in all mediums at affordable prices during the Alden Depot Arts Festival.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Alden Depot, 10670 Coy St. Visitors also can visit the museum and view the caboose. For details, visit

Picnic and games

LAKE ANN — The St. Andrews Society of NW Michigan will host a picnic and Highland Games Sunday, Aug. 25.

The event from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Almira Township Park will include games for all ages, a potluck picnic and live Scottish entertainment. For details or reservations, call 947-3902.

Successful aging

TRAVERSE CITY — Dave Eitland and Dr. Phil Ellis will discuss "Creative Giving and Your Bucket List" on Monday, Aug. 26, as part of the Successful Aging Series at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.

The free program starts at 2 p.m. at the Pavilions off South Elmwood Avenue. The public is invited. Eitland is development and gift planning director for Grand Traverse Pavilions Foundation. Ellis is director of the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation.
