Prep Sports Roundup: Titans, Vikings atop BNC

TRAVERSE CITY — It comes down to this for the Traverse City West soccer team: Win at Gaylord on Thursday and likely share the Big North Conference title with Cadillac.

The Titans and Vikings set up that scenario Tuesday. West posted an 8-0 mercy win over Ogemaw Heights while Cadillac edged Petoskey 1-0.

Kiley Kreple led West with two goals. Maria Rapson, Jessica Kalbfleisch, Nikki Sanford, Mikenna Ray, Mikaela Ray and Eva Brunetti added solo goals. Kalbfleisch and Grace Earl finished with two assists and Brunetti, Summer Slack and Mikenna and Mikaela Ray chipped in one.

Savanna Wojtanowski was in goal for the Titans (11-5-4, 7-1-3).

TC Central 8

Alpena 0

Paige Pfannenstiel’s three-goal hat-trick powered Traverse City Central to an 8-0 mercy win over Big North Conference rival Alpena.

Jacqueline Hardy added two goals, one on a direct kick.

Kalina Pfannenstiel and Lauren Ward contributed a goal and an assist. Jalyna Cisneros also tallied. Elena Morcote drew two assists, while Grace Stanton, Katie Ludwig and Paige Pfannenstiel had one. Katie Wheeler was in goal.

Central (8-11-1, 5-5-1), which outshot Alpena 17-0 on Senior Night, faces Petoskey on Thursday.

 

Elk Rapids 3

Boyne City 0

Carley Patterson netted two goals and her sister Hailey one as Elk Rapids posted a 3-0 Lake Michigan Conference soccer win over Boyne City.

Paige Granger was in goal for the Elks (11-2-1, 10-2), who travel to Harbor Springs today.

Kingsley 0

Suttons Bay 0

The goalies shined for Kingsley and Suttons Bay’s soccer teams as the two conference foes battled to a scoreless tie.

Kingsley’s Kasey Hayes made seven saves. Anika Oder, Maggie Gaca and Lauren Wierman led the Stags’ defense. Samara Slocomb was in goal for the Norse, who had strong defensive play from Delaney Kaufman, Lily Richter and Hannah Weber.

Kingsley (3-4-4) plays at the TC Central JV on Friday, then opens district play at Big Rapids on Tuesday. Suttons Bay (3-10-4, 1-4-3) plays the homeschool on Friday.
