---- — Fair contracts needed

Does the Traverse City Area Public Schools board really expect a reduced millage to pass with such low employee morale? Seriously?

Teachers are being asked to accept numerous contract rollbacks, complaints to be filed without a teacher’s knowledge, loss of sick time and accrued salary when returning from layoff, the inability to request a return to one’s classroom after maternity leave. In addition to yet another wage freeze, the list goes on.

Shined-up, renovated buildings do not educate children. Caring professionals do. I will vote “yes” after the board settles fair contracts.

Avoiding potholes

On Sigma Road just south of the County Road 571 curve there is a strip of road that is blacktopped; this strip of road has over 150 potholes. I have contacted the road commission several times and they have not done anything about this. They have been in the area as they have brined the roads off of Sigma Road and a little further south on Sigma Road it is dirt, and they have also brined that part.

I have lived in this area since last August; this road has always been this way, but drivers are trying to go around the potholes and are all over the road. You have to drive on the shoulder of the road to avoid part of them, but this is not always available to do as the mailboxes get in the way.
