9&10 News anchor dead

TRAVERSE CITY — A longtime northern Michigan television news anchor died.

Scott Michael Trager, who worked for 9&10 News and Fox 32, died suddenly Wednesday morning, according to a statement on 9&10's website. He was 46.

Trager began his career at 9&10 News in 1990 and most recently served as co-anchor of the morning show Michigan This Morning. He earned many accolades — including two Emmy Awards — during his time there.

"For over 20 years Scott Michael Trager has been part of the 9&10 News family. From his dynamic sports reporting to his professional yet funny personality he showed at the anchor desk, his impact will never be forgotten," station owner Mario Iacobelli said in a statement.

"This is a sad day for everyone who has worked with Scott Michael Trager and for our viewers who have woken up with him each morning. He will be deeply missed," station general manager Bill Kring said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to Scott's family as they work through this difficult time."

He is survived by his wife and three children.

Station officials referred a reporter to the statement and did not return a call for comment. Trager lived in McBain, and police couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
