Wellesley, Mass. — Thursday, Oct. 11, is National Depression Screening Day.
The event, held during Mental Illness Awareness Week, is a national, one-day outreach, education and screening event. It is sponsored by Screening for Mental Health Inc., a nonprofit organization. Youth hold sale
Traverse City — The Immaculate Conception Church Youth Group will hold its "Granny's Attic & Grandpa's Garage" sale to raise money for its 2013 mission trip.
The sale will be open from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, in Centennial Hall at the church, 720 Second St.
Traverse City — Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department will observe Fire Prevention Week with an open house and community barbecue on Saturday, Oct. 13.
The open house will be hosted 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Station 11, off Veterans Drive, with a side-by-side demonstration of how a fire can become deadly in less that three minutes at 1 p.m.
Benzie County — The Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy will sponsor a hike on the Mary Margaret Johnson trail which winds through the Railroad Point Natural Area forest.

Benzonia — Tickets are on sale for a fund-raising murder mystery event hosted by the Friends of the Benzonia Public Library.
The interactive library mystery, "Murder at Gooseneck Lake," will be hosted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov., 4 at the library in Mills Community House, 891 U.S. 31.
