The Hairport takes off in TC

TRAVERSE CITY — Tracie Berry’s goal at her new salon on South Airport Road is to offer great haircuts at a reasonable price.

“You will get great service for a fair price,” said Berry, who opened the Hairport Salon on April 1.

“The prices are really reasonable,” she said. “We know there are a lot of Traverse City working people earning between $9 to $12 an hour, so men can get a haircut here for $14 and if they want a shampoo $17. Women can get a cut for $15. If they want a shampoo, $20, and our color and perms start at $50 to $60.”

The business at 1073 S. Airport Road, directly across the street from Cherryland Center. Berry has nearly three decades of experience in the beauty industry and managed two salons in her career. She said her four employees receive regular monthly training on the latest techniques for beauty care.

“We love to color,” Berry said. “Foils. All-over colors. High-lift colors. Bleach. We specialize here in family hair care and we are really a family oriented salon. We want to do hair care at a fair price, especially for our seniors and working families in Traverse City and our stay-at-home moms.”

Customer Cherry Robbins got a foil color recently from Berry. She said she likes the atmosphere at the new business.

“I like Tracie,” Robbins said. “She does a great job, it’s a fair price and very reasonable.”
