Open house

TRAVERSE CITY — The Pathfinder School will showcase its educational program at an open house on Thursday, March 14.

Irish band performs

TRAVERSE CITY — The Tongue Family Band will give a free performance at noon Friday, March 15, at the Traverse City Senior Center, 801 E. Front St.

The community is invited to enjoy lunch while watching the concert. Suggested donations for the meal are $3 for adults 60 and older; $6 for anyone 59 and younger. Meal reservations are required at least 24 hours in advance; call 947-5285.

Women’s History

TRAVERSE CITY — The Women’s History Project of Northwest Michigan, Phi Theta Kappa Honorary Society of Northwestern Michigan College and the Traverse City American Association of University Women will honor women adventurers, explorers and inventors on Saturday, March 16.

The event recognizes March as National Women’s History Month. It will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at NMC’s Fine Arts Building, and features a “What’s My Line” type of show with mystery guests and audience interaction. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted for both the Women’s History Project and Phi Theta Kappa student projects.

Winter celebration

THOMPSONVILLE — The second annual Taste the Local Difference Winter Celebration will be hosted by Crystal Mountain Resort and the Michigan Land Use Institute.

The celebration will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 16, on the top level of the Crystal Center at the resort. It features local foods from more than 24 northern Michigan farmers and producers. Area chefs also will prepare dishes with local ingredients and offer suggestions on how to use local foods year-round.
