---- — Fishtown 5K set for Saturday

LELAND —The fifth annual Friends of Fishtown 5K will be held Saturday.

The race starts at 9 a.m. in historic Fishtown. Participants may run or walk. Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome.

Proceeds will help the Fishtown Preservation Society to continue its work in Fishtown. The cost of registration is $25 before Saturday. It will increase to $30 on Saturday.

Classic Boat Show set for Saturday

SUTTONS BAY — The Inland Seas Classic Boat Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The show is held in conjunction with the Leelanau Chamber of Commerce Wine on the Water Festival.

The theme for this year’s show: canoe heritage. It will feature canoes from early native bark types to modern cedar strip, epoxy versions. Chippewa artist and craftsman Ron Paquin will build a birchbark canoe.

There will also be a display of concrete canoes designed and built by university engineering students. There will a representation of classic motor, sail and human powered boats, too. Voyager canoe rides and harbor tours are also planned.

There is no admission fee.

TC’s Brons-Piche shoots a 156

LORTON, Va. — Traverse City’s Nikolaj Brons-Piche fired rounds of 77 and 79 for a 16-over 156 in the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship at the Laurel Hill Golf Club.

The projected cut was 145.
