Cherry Knoll Elementary principal named

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Area Public Schools' Cherry Knoll Elementary School has a new leader.

Ryan Schrock, a math intervention specialist at Long Lake Elementary Schools, will serve as principal. He replaces Chris Parker, who recently was selected as Northport Public Schools' superintendent.

TCAPS Associate Superintendent Sander Scott said Schrock stood out in a strong applicant pool.

"His knowledge of curriculum and instruction and where to go next with kids, he just rose to the top among a strong pool of candidates," Scott said.

Schrock has been with TCAPS since February 2014. He was the superintendent and principal at Bay City Academy before moving to TCAPS and taught middle school at Grand Traverse Academy prior to that.
