---- — The 26th annual Grand Traverse Thomas Bud Moore Scholarship golf outing, which raises scholarship funds to benefit Central Michigan University students from the Traverse City area, will be held Monday, July 22, at the Traverse City Golf and Country Club.

The cost is $125 per person and includes 18 holes of golf, open driving range, registration gift, buffet dinner and raffle prizes. CMU’s Dr. Gary Dunbar will be the guest speaker. He’ll give an overview on the work being done at CMU to combat neurodegenerative diseases. He’ll also highlight his work with products containing high concentrations of tart cherry extracts provided by a Traverse City company.

The event has raised more than $160,000 since its inception, benefiting 55 undergraduates.

The shot gun start to the four-person scramble is at 1 p.m. Dinner is at 5:30 p.m. A variety of sponsorships are available.

The Traverse City Central Hockey Boosters are hosting a golf outing Sunday, Aug. 4th at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa Spruce Run course.

The event is the boosters’ primary fundraiser for the year. Check-in will begin at 8 a.m. with play to begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. It will be a scramble format.

Registration is $80 per person or $300 for a team of four. The fee includes 18 holes with a cart, door prizes and a luncheon following the round. Hole sponsorships of $100 are still available.

The 13th annual Grand Traverse Rugby Club will host its golf outing Friday, Aug. 16, at Mistwood Golf Course.

The cost is $75, $25 for dinner only. Hole sponsorships are $100, corporate sponsorships $250.

Registration deadline is Aug. 14. The event will have a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

The third annual Kalkaska’s Sheriff’s Office golf outing, a benefit for the Kalkaska Animal Shelter’s building fund, will be held Friday, Aug. 23 at Grandview Golf Club.

The event, co-hosted by the NorthWoods Animal Coalition, starts at 1:30 p.m.

The event has previously raised funds to help the county reserve officers purchase new uniforms and to help equip the K-9 unit’s vehicle with a special heat-sensor crate. Proceeds this year will go towards a washable cement pad and building kennel walls with a roof to protect the dogs from the elements. So, far $12,500 has been raised for the $25,000 project.

The outing costs $65 per player for 18 holes with a cart. It includes a steak dinner. Hole sponsorships are also available.
