TRAVERSE CITY - Flight cancellations are possible at Cherry Capital Airport this evening because of required maintenance tests.
Dan Sal, airport operations manager, said the Federal Aviation Administration needs to test a computerized system that helps pilots land planes using instruments only when visibility is poor. The tests originally were scheduled Tuesday but had to be canceled. New tests are scheduled for this afternoon, but it's not clear if they will take place.
Sal said travelers should check the status of their flights this evening before heading to the airport because a weather forecast calls for a low cloud cover and limited visibility.
