KINGSLEY — Redeatha "Dee" Richardson, 93, of Kingsley, passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 30, 2012. Dee was born to Frederick and Rosabelle (Shears) Vanlent, in Otsego, on Feb. 24, 1919.
On June 30, 1955, she married the love of her life, Loren "Skip" Gunnett, who preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 1982. On Feb. 5, 1983, she married Eugene Richardson, who also preceded her in death in March of 2004.
Dee enjoyed meeting and being with people.
She worked as a cashier at Tom's West Bay for many years and retired from there in 1984.
To keep busy after retiring Dee volunteered at the old Osteopathic Hospital and was active as a volunteer at Glen Lake Community Church.
For the past eight years Dee resided with her daughter and son-in-law in Kingsley and attended Resurrection Life Church, where she participated in the prayer ministry and the Refresh Women's Ministry.
Probably the greatest passion in Dee's life was her family. She loved spending time with them and helping out in any way she could. She was blessed to be able to watch her grandsons grow up, have families of their own and then watch her great-grandchildren grow as well.
Dee touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorna (John) Eickenroth; grandsons, Justin (Dawn) Eickenroth and Colin (Maryanne) Spencer; step granddaughters, Autumn Eickenroth-Solem and Amy (Marc) Pritchard; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Patricia Ann (Nicholson) Spencer; son, Thomas Dale Nicholson; three brothers; and one sister.
A memorial service will be held Feb. 9, 2013, at 1 p.m., at the Resurrection of Life Church in Traverse City, with a luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Resurrection Life Church.
