COPEMISH — Eric Lewis Harm, 24, of Copemish, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, in Copemish. He was born June 8, 1988, in Traverse City.
Eric graduated from Benzie Central High School in 2007; he then attended Northwestern Michigan College for two years before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 2009. Eric served three years active duty including one year in Afghanistan, and was currently in the U.S. Army Reserves, getting ready to attend aviation school.
Eric enjoyed snowboarding, skate boarding, listening to music, and working out. Most of all, Eric loved hanging out with his friends and being with his family. He was a talented artist and was known for being a very kind, loving man who always put others before himself. Eric loved making people happy and he especially loved being an uncle.
Eric is survived by: his mother, Penny (Ray) Cox of Copemish; his father, Eric David (Kim) Harm of Interlochen; maternal grandparents, Janet and Gaylord McCaffrey, of Lake Ann; paternal grandmother, Connie (John) Ryan of Md.; brothers and sisters, Hilary (Raul Martinez) Harm, of Lake Ann, Jacob Cox, of Copemish, Tiffany Cox, of Traverse City, Kayla Cox, of Lansing, Michael Harm of Beulah, Cassandra Brock, of Buckley and Gregory Brock, of Grand Rapids; two nieces, Natalie and Nevaeh; his nephew, Maddox; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Eric was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Carl Walter Louis Harm; his uncle, Russell Joseph McCaffrey; and his cousin, Dyoblyn Rein Stroh.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah. Interment will follow in the Cleon Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
