Almost Rare Book Sale

TRAVERSE CITY — For the first time in the sale's history, the Friends of the Traverse Area District Library will host a preview event prior to its Used and Almost Rare Book Sale.

The preview will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at the library, 610 Woodmere Ave. It features a silent auction of rare/collectible and signed books and an opportunity to shop for books before the sale opens to the public. Admission is $10 per person.

The sale will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, when books will be 50 percent off. Admission is free. All proceeds benefit library materials and programs.

Family Science Day

SUTTONS BAY — The theme for Family Science Saturday on Sept. 21 is "What's For Lunch in the Great Lakes."

Activities are suitable for children ages 5 to 12 and will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon at the Inland Seas Education Center, 100 Dame. The cost is $5 per child and reservations are requested. For details or to reserve space, contact Taryn Carew, 271-3077 or tcarew@schoolship.org.

Honor School reunion

HONOR — All schoolmates are invited to the Honor All School Reunion on Saturday, Sept. 21.

There will be a social gathering at 3:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 5 p.m. in the gym at Platte River Elementary School. A donation of $3 per person is requested and attendees should bring a dish to pass and table service for the meal. Ham, dinner rolls and beverages will be furnished. Breakfast is served

FIFE LAKE — The Walton Junction Sportman's Club will host breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 21.

The meal will be served from 7 to 11 a.m. at the club, 11207 E. County Line Road. The cost is $7 for adults, $2.50 for children ages 5 to 11, and free for children 4 and younger.
