Waste of money
I am writing because for many months we have heard that the road commission was strapped for money and was not going to be able to repave a lot of the roads. Luckily they were able to get funds to do some of the worst roads, West Silver Lake among those.
I find it a little ridiculous that if they are going to repave the road this summer that they would spend the money to re-stripe that road one week and then fill potholes along those freshly painted lines the next! Seems like a waste of money and manpower.

State is bad for business
In response to a June 19 letter, "Bullied by local politicos," he is not alone about how they treated Meijer. I, too, tried to build and create jobs in Michigan. It was the state, townships, counties and all the bureaucrats that wanted me to set up my business their way. They wanted me to build to laws not written because they wanted it that way. No tax break for me. Michigan is the worst state I have been in for business.
The people think that I am here and no one else can come to do anything because it brings people and takes away from our towns. Wake up people, the population is here. The only job they want is to service those who have made their money somewhere else and want to live the retired life with the poor servants of northern Michigan.
They wanted the lake levels up and when the rain comes they declare a state of emergency. They don't want the Polar ice cap to melt but were glad when it melted from Michigan.
Michigan people want lower taxes but have full-time, high-paid professional senators and legislators, let alone the county and townships.
