TRAVERSE CITY — Ross-York
Jessica Ross and John Warren York, both of Traverse City, were united in marriage on July 14, 2012, at the First Congregational Church. The Rev. Dr. Gary Hogue officiated at the 4 p.m. nuptials.
Stephanie Swartzendruber of Calumet, Mich., attended her best friend as maid of honor. Jessica's bridesmaids were Amanda Ross of Ann Arbor, Caitlin Buchalla and Megan Crandall, both of Traverse City, and Margaret York and Catherine York, both of San Francisco.
John chose his best friend, Josh Schmidt of Traverse City, as his best man. Groomsmen were Tim Lehmann of Boston and Storm Ross of Ann Arbor. Trey Settles of Traverse City was the ring bearer.
Following a wedding trip to the Outer Banks, N.C., the newlyweds are living in Charlottesville, Va.
Jessica is the daughter of Jack and Karen Ross of Traverse City. She received a bachelor of science degree from Michigan State University in East Lansing, and currently is studying toward a master's degree in teaching at Mary Baldwin College, Staunton, Va. Jessica also is employed by Charlottesville City Schools.
John is the son of David and Barbara York. He received a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. He then served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was honorably discharged as a lieutenant (O-3). John currently is a doctoral student in the Department of Politics at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville.
