GRAND RAPIDS — Natalie Eileen Johnson of Davisburg, Mich., and formerly of Battle Creek and Ryan Andrew McGowen of Davisburg and formerly of Traverse City exchanged marriage vows on July 20, 2013, at Fountain Street Church. The Rev. David Lee Smith, minister of visitation, performed the 4 p.m. ceremony.
Natalie chose her sister, Jennifer Yskes of Livonia, to attend her as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Corey McGowen of Salt Lake City, Katie Lipari of New Hudson, Mich., Kathleen Ford of Chicago, Michelle Yother-Johnson of San Diego, Calif., Kari Lysdahl of Jackson Hole, Wyo., and Renee Brown of Royal Oak. Natalie’s niece, Emma Yskes of Livonia, was the flower girl.
The groom’s father, Terry McGowen of Traverse City, served as his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Nathan Johnson of San Diego, Calif., Rob Hanel of Portland, Ore., Brett Hepler of Grand Haven, Eric Yskes of Livonia, David Shutler of Traverse City, and Jason Ford of Berkley, Mich.
An evening reception was hosted at the Eberhard Center-GVSU Pew Campus in Grand Rapids.
The bride is the daughter of David and Kathi Johnson of Battle Creek. Natalie graduated from Lakeview High School and received a master’s degree in social work from Grand Valley State University. She is employed as a social worker at Clarkston Community Schools.
The groom is the son of Terry and Jacque McGowen of Traverse City. Ryan graduated from Traverse City West Senior High School and received a bachelor of science degree in biomedical science from Grand Valley State University. He also received radiation therapy certification from William Beaumont Hospital. Ryan is employed as a radiation therapist at McLaren Macomb in Clarkston.
