Pellston falls in volleyball title match

    The Vikings and the Ramblers each saw their seasons come to a close Friday with losses in the state semifinals.

  • Pellston to play for volleyball title
    Pellston returned to the Class D state semifinals on Thursday, but the outcome this year couldn't have been more different than the last time around.

  • Spencer to play at George Mason
    Laura Spencer is a Patriot. The Traverse City Central senior signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball at George Mason University on Wednesday. She had verbally committed Tuesday night.

  • Three area teams in state volleyball semis
    A year ago, Pellston made the journey to Battle Creek for its first semifinal appearance in five years. The trip was a short one. Pellston is looking for a longer stay this time around.

  • Volleyball: Pellston wins, Leland swept
    Pellston is heading back to Battle Creek. The Hornets clinched their second straight berth in the Class D state semifinals on Tuesday with a four-set win over Hancock in the St. Ignace quarterfinal.

  • Leland claims volleyball title
    A sign saying "Tradition" was hanging in the Buckley gymnasium opposite the Leland bench. And the Comets kept that going on Thursday. With a win over Central Lake, Leland won its first regional title since 2006.

  • Volleyball Roundup: Pellston takes title
    For the third year in a row, the Pellston volleyball team hoisted the Class D regional championship trophy. (Plus McBain vs. Charlevoix in Class C.)

  • TC West swept in volleyball regional
    Grand Haven made its biggest trip of the season Tuesday to set up what will be its biggest match of the year. The Buccaneers eliminated Traverse City West in the Class A regional semifinal.

  • Volleyball Roundup: Rayders get by Warriors
    History was made at Charlevoix on Tuesday, but it didn't come easy. The host Rayders won their first regional game in school history. (Plus more volleyball.)
