ALDEN — The next film in the "Off the Wall" Movie Series is "Ulee's Gold," starring Peter Fonda.

TRAVERSE CITY —The community is invited to the 38th annual Mariners Memorial Service on Friday, Nov. 8.
The service starts at noon in the courtyard on the harbor side of the Great Lakes Maritime Academy at Northwestern Michigan College's Great Lakes Campus, 715 E. Front St. It remembers and honors mariners who died on the Great Lakes and oceans and is sponsored by the Student Propeller Club, Port 150, of the Great Lakes Maritime Academy. Thistle and Thread show
TRAVERSE CITY — Thistle and Thread artisan group will host its 36th annual holiday show on Saturday, Nov. 9.
The show and sale will be presented in a gallery setting from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center, 1125 W. Civic Center Dr. There will be year-round art items and home decor as well as holiday-themed items.
St. Mary auction
LAKE LEELANAU — The annual Lake Leelanau St. Mary School Auction Road Trip will be held on a new date and at a new location.
The auction will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the St. Mary School gym. The doors open and silent auction bidding starts at 6 p.m., with a live auction at 8 p.m. There will be more than 450 items on which to bid. Toy sale helps kids
SUTTONS BAY — The youth of Suttons Bay Congregational Church will hold their second annual "Kids Caring for Kids" used toy sale on Saturday, Nov. 9.
The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, the corner of Madison and Lincoln streets. Twenty percent of the proceeds will benefit the Leelanau Family Coordinating Council, a Leelanau County organization that helps fund the Laundry Project and other efforts that support local families. EASTPORT — The Upper Torch Lake Association invites all Torch Lake area residents to a potluck on Monday, Nov. 11.
