PETOSKEY — Kilwins Quality Confections of Petoskey is recalling certain 7-ounce packages of sugar-free peanut butter fudge because one of the ingredients is the subject of another recall and could be contaminated with salmonella, according to a Food and Drug Administration announcement.
Kilwins Sugar-Free Peanut Butter Fudge with the bar code 000648 and lots 67936, 67105, 66959, 66413, 66248, 65123, 63124, 62693, 62612, 61658 and 61621 sold in Kilwins retail stores between Oct. 1 and 5 are being recalled by the company. Some peanut butter used to make the fudge is associated with a Sunland, Inc., of Portales, N.M., recall of all products manufactured in Sunland’s peanut butter plant because they have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the product, FDA reports.
The recalled packages were sold in Kilwins retail stores in Michigan, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin.
