-- Sept. 30: Jamie Ford, author of critically acclaimed best-seller “Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet,” which has been translated into 34 languages. His newest novel is “Songs of Willow Frost,” set against the backdrop of Depression-era Seattle. It will hit bookstores on Sept. 10. Guest host is Rich Fahle, founder and CEO of Astral Road Author Media and Bibliostar.
-- Oct. 14: Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David Finkel, author of “The Good Soldiers,” and a staff writer for the Washington Post’s national reporting team. He won the Pulitzer for explanatory reporting in 2006 for a series about U.S.-funded democracy efforts in Yemen. He is a recipient of a MacArthur Foundation “genius award” in 2012. Stanton is guest host.
-- Oct. 30: Nikki Giovanni, American icon, poet, Oprah “Living Legend” and author of 27 books on poetry, nonfiction, children’s literature and recordings. She has taught at Virginia Tech since 1987 and is a “distinguished professor” there. Guest host is Leigh Haber, books editor for “ O, The Oprah Magazine”and coordinator of the Oprah Book Club.
-- Nov 5: Long-time mystery writer Sara Paretsky, creator of female private eye, V.I Washawski in 1982, Chicago social activist and community organizer. Guest host is Nancy Baker, program director for Evanston Scholar in Illinois and a NWS board member.
