Bruce R. Rocha

TRAVERSE CITY — Bruce Roger Rocha, 50, of Traverse City, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at his home

Bruce was born on Oct. 23, 1962, in Grand Rapids, the son of Julio Vegela and Antoinia (Rocha) Martinez. In 1994, in Northport, he married Peggy J. Raphael who survives.

Bruce was an incredible husband, father, and grandfather. Bruce was the rock of the family, but he wasn't always a tough guy — he had a big and generous heart and was quick to forgive. He made everyone feel welcomed and at home. He was a talented 'Mr. Fix-it' and was a professional residential and commercial painter. Bruce loved fishing, grilling, and enjoyed watching televised sports. Although his beloved San Francisco 49ers didn't win, Bruce was thrilled to have his favorite team compete in the Super Bowl. Bruce loved his family unconditionally and will be greatly missed by his loved ones.

In addition to his loving wife, Peggy, Bruce is survived by his mother, Antoinia; children, LaShon Raphael, Leticia Rocha, and Rafael Rocha; a grandson, Zion Raphael; brothers, Randy (Ruth Ann) Rocha and Juan (Rachel) Rocha; a sister, Maria Lopez; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Julio.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.

Burial will take place in the spring at Kateri Tekawitha Cemetery, Peshawbestown.
