HARBOR SPRINGS — Down four points after the morning's slalom race, the Traverse City Central girls came back to claim the Harbor-Petoskey Invitational on Monday at Boyne Highlands.

The Trojans finished with 46 points. Petoskey took second with 53 and Traverse City West third with 83.5. Petoskey led 21-25 after the slalom.

The Petoskey boys pulled away in the afternoon's slalom to beat Traverse City Central, 67-91. West was third with 117. Central was down two, 38-40, after the morning's giant slalom.

For the second consecutive meet, Central's Shannon Weaver swept the girls slalom and giant slalom. She posted times of 1:20.53 in the slalom and 1:13.23 in the GS. Madison Ostergren placed second (1:13.93), Cassidy Klein fifth (1:16.29) and Paige Pfannenstiel 13th (1:19.03) in the giant slalom. Klein was fourth in slalom (1:23.70), Ostergren ninth (1:26.01) and Pfannenstiel 11th (1:28.72).

Petoskey's Jill Antonishen finished third in the giant slalom (1:16.10) and Mia Cicorretti third in the slalom (1:22.63).

West's Monica Hessler placed second in the slalom (1:22.08), eighth in the giant slalom (1:16.85).

Carlee McCardel, skiing for the Elk Rapids-St. Francis co-op team, took sixth in the giant slalom (1:16.42).

Petoskey pulled away in slalom, putting three skiers in the top six. Noah Honaker and Garrett Lundteigen went two-three (1:19.91 and 1:21.85).

Glen Lake's Thomas Waning captured the slalom in 1:19.67. West's Finley Clark was fourth (1:22.523) and Central's John Whiting and Lars Hornburg eighth and ninth (1:25.54 and 1:27.24).

Petoskey's Brian Erhart captured the giant slalom, edging Waning 1:16.05 to 1:16.18.

Clark placed fifth (1:17.76) and teammate Matt Lowe ninth (1:18.29). Central's Kurt Frick was sixth (1:18.12) and Kalvis Hornburg eighth (1:18.26).

Manistee Catholic      63 TC Christian      52

Manistee Catholic held on for a 63-52 non-conference win over TC Christian.

Manistee CC (3-2) closed the second quarter on an 8-0 run for a 31-24 lead at the break. In the fourth quarter, the Sabers were 6-for-15 from the free-throw line, but held to their lead.

Zack Bialik had 20 points, eight rebounds and four steals in the win while Ben Feliczak had 17 points and nine rebounds. Andrew Perry had 10 points and Alex Bialik had six assists.

Kris Crosby had 21 points for TC Christian while Paul Bump scored 18.
