BENZONIA — The Northern Michigan Culinary Arts Community Dinner scheduled for today, Jan. 28, at 5 p.m. has been canceled because of the weather. The event will be held Sunday, Feb. 9, at 5 p.m. at Grow Benzie, 5885 M-115.
TRAVERSE CITY — Northwestern Michigan College’s annual Festival of Foods will be hosted Saturday, Feb. 8.
The culinary event will offer demonstrations by area chefs, NMC culinary instructors and local gourmet food artisans from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on NMC’s campus. Participants can choose four one-hour sessions from 16 options ranging from Chinese crepes and gnocchi, to fusion cuisine, cupcakes and more.

TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse Bay Poverty Reduction Initiative will host a Super Saturday Special on Saturday, Feb. 8.
The free event will be held from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District Career-Tech Center, 880 Parsons Road. Check-in starts at 9 a.m. It includes lunch, free tax preparation for those who qualify, information booths hosted by community agencies and workshops on a variety of topics. GRAYLING — Northern Michigan Free Tax Service, 305 Lawndale, offers free tax preparation and electronic filing for individuals with income up to $60,000.

Robb is Twain
ELK RAPIDS — The community is invited to spend an afternoon with author and humorist Mark Twain portrayed by Dean Robb.
Robb, a local attorney and civil rights activist, has been portraying Twain for more than 20 years. The event starts at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Elk Rapids Historic Museum, 301 Traverse St. It is sponsored by the Elk Rapids District Library. Admission is free and no registration is required.
