---- — TRAVERSE CITY — Grand Traverse County commissioners will gather public input about restoration of the bell atop the county’s circuit courthouse.

The bell used to ring every hour and half-hour, but it fell silent in 2008 because of budget and safety concerns.

Several community members expressed interest in raising funds to restore the 112-year-old bell.

County board members will hear public comments and vote on the restoration efforts at a commission meeting Wednesday night. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Boardman Avenue Governmental Center.
