TRAVERSE CITY — Garfield Township will hold a public hearing on a proposed $3.3 million annual budget that will increase 7 percent over the prior year.
The $227,000 in increased costs are spread over all areas, with no new programs or spending increases in any one area, said Kay Schumacher, township clerk. All township employees are scheduled to receive a 1.5 percent raise in 2013. The township millage rate will remain unchanged.
The town board is expected to vote on the budget after the public hearing that begins today at 6 p.m. at the township hall, 3848 Veteran's Drive.
