TRAVERSE CITY — Michale M. Lempinen, 64, of Traverse City passed away Dec. 1, 2012.
Michale was born on September 25, 1948 in Detroit to the late Edward Mauno and Theresa (Tyran) Lempinen.
Michale served our country honorably as a member of the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971. He served in combat during Vietnam as an Army recon specialist.
On June 22, 1974 Michale married the former Diane Christine Dudzik in Centerline.
Michale was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 31 years.
He was a proud member of the VFW, the Honor Guard, the American Military League, and the Eagles.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, coming up with inventions and spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed traveling, ballroom dancing, karaoke, casino outings, and playing poker with friends and family. He was very approachable and talked to everyone. He never met a stranger and had an amazing ability to remember everyone's name. He would often state that "life is about character" and was a strong believer in treating everyone with respect. He was a simple man, with simple needs, who above all else, loved spending time with his wife, two sons, dog Smokey and his friends.
Michale is survived by his wife Diane, sons Michael (Rebecca) Lempinen and Chris Lempinen, and brother Patrick (Barbara) Lempinen.
Michale was preceded in death by his brothers Robert and Steve.
