TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City police arrested a homeless man for disorderly conduct after he yelled at other homeless men and kicked an officer in the calf.
Officers encountered the man, who was in a "karate-type stance" while yelling at the other men, in the wooded area west of Division Street near 11th Street on Saturday, police said.
The suspect, 53, kicked one of the officers in the calf before backup police arrived and took the man into custody.
One officer sustained an ankle injury during the arrest. He will be off-duty for an unspecified amount of time as a result.
The suspect remains in the Grand Traverse County Jail while awaiting arraignment. Officers previously arrested the man for, among other things, resisting and obstructing police officers, assault, larceny and escape from custody.
