Artist reception

BELLAIRE — Parkside Arts Council will host an artist reception for Bellaire photography artist Tom Brown, who has been creating photography for 30 years.

Vendors sought

TRAVERSE CITY — Vendor applications for the Traverse City Makers Market will be accepted until Monday, July 15.

The juried art market will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 21, at the Village at Grand Traverse Commons. Vendors must be Michigan residents.

Free concert

MANCELONA — The Mancelona Area Chamber of Commerce kicks off a series of free summer celebration concerts today, July 9.

Local country band The Miracles opens the series at 7 p.m. at Triangle Park. Attendees should bring their own seating. In case of bad weather, the concert will be held at the Mancelona Middle School gym. For details, call 587-5500 or visit www.mancelonachamber.org.

Summer reading

TRAVERSE CITY — Children through fifth grade are invited to join the Peninsula Community Library to create a miniature fairy garden with master gardener Karen McClatchey.

The program starts at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 11, at the library, 2699 Island View Road, and includes stories, activities and the craft project. It is part of the library’s Summer Reading Club. For details or to sign up, call the library, 223-7700.

Trunk show

CEDAR — Wool & Honey will host a trunk show featuring artisan yarn company SweetGeorgia Yarns of British Columbia and soaps and body care items from Bare North Body & Home of Traverse City. Trunk show hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 12, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at Wool & Honey, 9031 S. Kasson.
