ALPENA — Host Alpena played TC Central tough, but the Trojans emerged with a 27-25, 28-26, 24-26, 25-11 Big North Conference win on Monday.

Callie Bartkowiak had 11 kills for the Trojans (16-9-2, 4-4 BNC) while Brie Goodno had 15 kills and two blocks. Maddy Duensing had 45 assists and eight digs while Leah Potter had 23 digs, three aces and two kills.

The JV won 25-16, 25-7, 25-19 to move to 7-1 in league play. Liza McCall led the offense while Valerie Riedel and Mariah Bensley were standouts.

In the freshman match, TC Central won 25-17, 25-28, 25-20 behind Haley Klein and Ariana Moore.


TC West      3 Ogemaw Heights      0

Traverse City West picked up a 25-8, 25-18, 25-11 Big North Conference win over Ogemaw Heights.

The Titans (14-9-1, 5-2 BNC) had 15 kills and 11 digs from Katie Placek, Courtney VanHouzen had eight kills and nine digs, Anna O'Hara had eight kills and Kimmy Bilinski had eight digs.

The TC West JV won 26-24, 25-22, 25-19. Maggie Gray had eight kills and eight digs, Hannah Foote had five aces, five digs and four kills, Hannah Mead had 10 digs, seven assists and three aces for the Titans (18-1, 7-0 BNC).

The freshmen won 25-6, 23-25, 25-16. Emily Nunemaker had four aces, Olivia Bishop had five aces and four kills while Sarah Patten had four assists.


Glen Lake      5 Northport      1

Glen Lake picked up a 5-1 Great Northwest Conference win over Northport.

The Lakers had three goals from Reiss Skrocki while Jake Lewis had a goal and an assist. Anders Johnson had a goal, Spencer White had two assists while Cameron Baarstad and Devin Montague each netted one.

Bill Stowe scored for Northport on a Alex Thelander assist.

Burt Lake NMCA     6 Gaylord      1

Aaron Chatfield added to his records in a 6-1 Burt Lake NMCA win over Gaylord.

Chatfield had four goals and two assists to take over the state's career points record. His brother, Nathan, previously held the record.

Jake Lovitt had a goal and three assists for the Eagles (11-7) while Jeff Thompson had a goal and an assist. Michael Malton made 10 saves.

Suttons Bay      1 Benzie Central      1

Suttons Bay and Benzie Central played to a 1-1 Great Northwest Conference tie.

The Norse (4-5-4, 3-2-4 GNW) scored on a Logan Mikesell goal off a Jason Winowiecki assist. Aaron Orban made 10 saves.

The Huskies (5-3-5 got a goal from Janfrd Wemken off a Christon Lee assist. Paul Dumas was in net.


Titans second, Trojans third at Tullymore

TC West finished second while TC Central took third at the Tullymore Invitational.

Kalamazoo Hackett won the 10-team tournament with a 344.

The Titans shot 365. Taylor Kehoe was second with 82, Laura Krieber shot 87 for sixth, Amanda Gross was 11th with 96 and Emily Dean shot 100.

TC Central shot 404 with two varsity players and four from the JV. Courtney Dye was overall medalist with 81 while Nonie Tompkins shot 100 despite playing the back nine with a migraine. Abbie Crick shot 108, Kendall Langum had 115, Molly Smith shot 117 and Kate Trubac had 125.


TCC JV Black      5 Leelanau Co.     3

TC Central's JV Black finished the year 7-0 in duals with a 5-3 win over Leelanau Co.

The Trojans swept doubles with Jeff McAndrews/Alex Sheridan (7-6, 6-4), Austin Harrison/Riley Boyd (6-2, 6-3), Jack Seymour/Michael Meindertsma (6-0, 6-1) and Danny Madion/Carl Rasmussen (6-0, 6-2). Ron Dohm also won No. 4 singles (6-0, 6-0).

Leelanau's winners were Parker Kokowicz (7-5, 6-2), Leif Mohroman (6-0, 6-0) and Joel Sneed (2-6, 7-6, 10-8).

The TCC JV Gold won 7-1. Winners included Spencer Kroupa, Ben Brown, Jack McKay, Murphy Drury and the doubles teams of Andrew Froese/Ben Grams, Ben Cockfield/Luke Fagerstrom, Noah McKenzie/Nate Michno.
