TRAVERSE CITY — A Northport man is jailed on accusations he broke into a Blair Township home and assaulted a female resident.

The resident called authorities Sunday at 1:25 a.m. about a man trying to break into her home. She managed to get away after the suspect, 20, of Northport, assaulted her.

Grand Traverse County sheriff’s deputies arrived and arrested the suspect on a requested charge of first-degree home invasion. Prosecutors are reviewing the case.

Deputies early Sunday also investigated what they called an attempted home invasion in Peninsula Township in which a Traverse City man, 20, slammed on a home’s windows and door.

Authorities said the suspect gave information while under arrest that led them to request a search warrant at another Peninsula Township resident. Deputies issued 10 minor in possession of alcohol tickets at the home.
