LAKE ANN — Benzie County authorities are investigating a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Lake Ann man.
Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Troy Lamerson said the victim was declared dead at the scene of the Monday accident on Fewins Road, about a mile east of M-669.
He said the truck was found at 8 a.m., but investigators believed the accident occurred earlier.
County Medical Examiner Matthew Houghton said the 32-year-old driver did not wear a seat belt and died from injuries suffered in the crash.
He said the truck went across the road’s center line, struck a tree, rolled for a long distance and finally landed on its top.
The driver was partially ejected from the vehicle.
“The speedometer was stuck at 60 mph,” he said.
Authorities did not immediately release the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin.
