Street fun

ELK RAPIDS — Evening on River Street events continue Wednesday, July 17.

The event from 6 to 9 p.m. features music by the Blue Shadow Band. Cartoonist Jeff Manley and face painters also will make appearances, along with food vendors, fire trucks and more. For details, call the Elk Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, 264-8202.

'Anchor Day' films

EMPIRE — The Empire Museum will sponsor an evening of movies on Friday, July 19, at the Empire Township Hall.

"Anchor Day" movies include "Empire Anchor Recovery" at 7 p.m., "Glen Lake's Rescue" at 7:30 p.m. featuring underwater video; "History of Sleeping Bear Dunesmobiles" and "History of #9 Dunesmobile" at 8 p.m.; and "Empire Anchor Recovery" at 9 p.m. Donations are appreciated. Free popcorn will be served.

Ceramics exhibit

OMENA — “Wood, Water, Stone,” an exhibit of ceramic art celebrating the beauty of natural textures and forms by Elizabeth DeLyria, will be featured at the Tamarack Gallery.

The exhibit opens with a reception from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 20, and continues through Friday, Aug. 9. The gallery is located on M-22. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For details, call 386-5529 or visit www.tamarackartgallery.com.

Garden walk

TRAVERSE CITY — The Friendly Garden Club invites the public to view six gardens off Silver Lake Road on Thursday, July 18.

The club's 31st annual garden walk will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 the day of the walk, and free for children. They are available at the Traverse City Convention and Visitors Center and at the gardens on the day of the walk. Art Park concert

THOMPSONVILLE — Ruth and Max Bloomquist will bring their folk, bluegrass and country sounds to Michigan Legacy Art Park’s Summer Sounds Concert Series.
