Two trucks stolen from Grawn business

Two pickups stolen from Grawn company

TRAVERSE CITY — Grand Traverse County sheriff’s deputies are investigating thefts of two pickup trucks from a local insulation company.

The vehicles were reported stolen from TC Insulating in Grawn on Feb. 28.

Police said at least one person broke into the business between 7:50 and 8:30 p.m. the previous day and took the keys to two vehicles that were driven away from the scene.

One vehicle is a green 2001 Ford F150 with a white cap and Michigan license plate CA17198. The second is a burgundy 1998 GMC Sierra with dents and rust markings. The license plate number is CD80749.

General manager Paul Anstett said security footage shows one person busted down the door with a metal object and a boot. He or she made off with one truck then returned 50 minutes later for the second.

He suspects it was a former employee or “somebody that knew the place.”

The theft isn’t a huge loss, he said, but “it’s just the thought that somebody walks in, takes over and walks away with the goods.”

“I think busting down the door is probably the thing that gets me the most,” Anstett said. “The ‘I don’t care’ attitude.”

Lt. Bryan Marrow said police are looking into obtaining the security footage that could provide photos of the suspect.

“It’s not a lot to go on there,” he said. “But it’s rarely we have two vehicles stolen from the same place. That’s kind of odd ... It’s like, what’s the motivation for that?”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 231-995-5000 or Silent Observer at 231-947-8477.
