BEULAH — Osby David Newsome, 91, of Beulah, formerly of Warren, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Paul Oliver Long-Term Care Facility in Frankfort. He was born Dec. 11, 1921, in Kentucky, the son of Bird and Eula (Manning) Newsome.
Osby had worked as a stationary engineer for Ford Motor Company in Highland Park for 41 years. After his retirement in 1978, he and his wife moved to Beulah, a town that had been an important part of his life since he was a young man.
In his spare time, Osby enjoyed fishing, especially on Crystal and Platte lakes. He also liked to hunt.
Osby was a devout member of Shepherd's Chapel, and he loved to listen to Pastor Arnold Murray proclaim the Word of the Lord. Osby will be remembered as a Christian of strong faith, a devoted family man, and a hard worker.
On Nov. 18, 1950, Osby married Wilma Kruse who survives him. He is also survived by his sons, Richard (Laura) Newsome of Port Huron and Chris Newsome of Manistee; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Josephine (Sam) Gibson of Hemet, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Osby was preceded in death by his parents, and seven siblings.
