Nancy Lee Fishburn

MAPLE CITY — Nancy Lee Fishburn, 65, of Maple City, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Orchard Creek Health Care in Traverse City. She was born Sept. 5, 1947, in Detroit, the daughter of Edwin and Charlotte Schaefer.

Nancy attended Michigan State University, where she studied interior design. She continued her studies at MSU and went on to become a Master Gardener. Nancy's strength and enduring charm will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Nancy is survived by her son, Rory (Nicole) Fishburn of Allen Park; her grandchildren, Natalie, Makalah, and Tessa Fishburn; her siblings, Sandra (Michael) Smith of Helendale, Calif., Laura (Gerry) Galea of Lakeville, James (Cosette) Schaefer of Manistee, Tracy (Arden Mackey) Schaefer of Kaleva, Jane (Tim) Swanson of Maple City, and Jack (Cheryl) Schaefer of Brethren; her mother-in-law, Donnis Fishburn of Brentwood, Calif.; her brother-in-law, Donn (Jennice) Fishburn of Albuquerque, N.M.; her sisters-in-law, Terri Fishburn of San Francisco and Traci Fishburn of Santa Cruz, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

On Aug. 25, 1973, Nancy married David Leon Fishburn, who preceded her in death on June 1, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Edwin A. Schaefer III; and her father-in-law, Melvin Fishburn.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at St. Rita's Church in Maple City. A luncheon will follow at St. Rita's Parish Hall.
