---- — TRAVERSE CITY — The rare occurrence of vehicle theft in Traverse City happened twice in two days.

Two vehicles were reported stolen this weekend, though Traverse City Police Capt. Brian Heffner said one has been recovered. A silver 2002 Dodge Dakota pickup truck was stolen Saturday about 2:30 a.m. from a Munson Medical Center parking lot near Sixth Street.

“The vehicle was left unlocked and the keys were on the passenger seat,” Heffner said.

Heffner said police located and recovered the vehicle on Monday. He said police don’t believe the theft is connected to a second vehicle reported stolen Sunday about 5 p.m. from the driveway of a Karla Lane residence on Traverse City.

That vehicle is described as a charcoal BMW 325xi four-door with a Michigan plate of UCB0SS.
