Boardman meet

TRAVERSE CITY — The Boardman Neighborhood Association’s fall meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 2, will feature an informal forum with candidates for City Commission.

Blood sugar

TRAVERSE CITY — Oryana Natural Foods Market will sponsor a community discussion on managing blood sugar levels on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

Ecology, theology

TRAVERSE CITY — Life Academy of Northwestern Michigan College will offer a course titled “The Intersection of Ecology and Theology.”

The class meets from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 2, 9, 16 and 23. It will be taught by Father Ciprian Streza. He is an ordained priest in the Greek Orthodox Christian Church and parish priest of Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church. He also has a special interest in ecology from religious perspectives.

Manistee pink

MANISTEE— Manistee will “paint the town pink” for a fundraiser to benefit West Shore Medical Center’s breast health services.

The event on Thursday, Oct. 3, starts with a social hour from 4-5 p.m. at the west end of River Street. A ceremony recognizing survivors at 5 p.m. will be followed by the 1-mile walk. Event T-shirts may be purchased in the radiology department at West Shore Medical Center and limited quantities will be available at the walk. Church Women

EMPIRE — Church Women United and Men will gather at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 11411 LaCore Ave., on Thursday, Oct. 3.

The group will meet from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for a fellowship luncheon and a program by church members. Attendees should bring a dish to pass for the meal and contributions for the annual CROP Walk.
