Man accused of assaulting child in Grand Traverse County

TRAVERSE CITY — A 32-year-old man is accused of sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl in Grand Traverse County.

Nathon James Elzer faces a warrant charging him with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of criminal sexual conduct second-degree.

County deputies said in court records that the charges stem from a July incident at a Garfield Township home. Court records indicate Elzer was staying with a woman and her young daughter when the child said Elzer inappropriately touched, then sexually assaulted her.

Elzer was not in custody on the charges as of Wednesday afternoon.
