Prospective Eagle Scout to collect instruments

TRAVERSE CITY — A St. Francis High School junior is collecting instruments for band programs at local Catholic schools as part of an Eagle Scout service project.

Jack Puetz, a member of Traverse City’s Boy Scout Troop 31, is calling his project “Give a Hand to the Band.” Puetz discovered his own love of the trumpet in the fifth grade.

He will be collecting new or used instruments on April 13-14 after masses at St. Francis. Puetz also is accepting monetary donations, which will be used to repair old instruments.

Scouts must complete a service project in order to advance to the top-rank of Eagle Scout.

Email Puetz at or call him at 944-0306 with questions or to arrange a pickup.
