CENTRAL LAKE — Conservation officers are investigating the death of an East Jordan man found pinned under a snowmobile in the Echo Township Hall parking lot.
The man, 50, was found today at 12:09 p.m. by a neighbor who lives near the township hall at the intersection of 6 Mile Lake Road and County Road 624. Andrea Albert, a Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officer, said the man's identity won't be released until his family is notified
"Unfortunately, it appears the accident happened (Monday) some time," Albert said today.
Albert said the man hadn't been reported missing and it's unclear how he ended up under the snowmobile. She said a forensic autopsy will be conducted in Grand Rapids later this week.
Echo Township officials couldn't be reached for comment. Antrim County Sheriff Dan Bean said the incident occurred in what's commonly known as the Skinkle Valley area and sheriff's deputies did not assist in the investigation.
