Event to help Wounded Warriors

THOMPSONVILLE — A group of model airplane enthusiasts is raising money to assist wounded veterans.

The Benzie Area Radio Control (BARC) club will hold its model aircraft show at the Thompsonville Airport Aug. 24. This year the club is helping raise money to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, which assists military personnel who have suffered life-altering injuries while serving their country.

Various fundraisers will take place at the airport on the day of the event, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mailed donations of checks made payable to the Wounded Warrior Project are also being accepted by mail to WWP, 6758 Platte Road, Beulah, 49617.

Also this week, a local pilot of a remote-control aircraft is looking for help finding his missing plane on Old Mission Peninsula. The aircraft has two cameras attached to it and crashed somewhere in the area of Wilson and Center roads.

You can contact Traverse City resident Tom Roach at 947-0406 if you find the plane.
