TRAVERSE CITY -- Five state police troopers are back to work at local posts after state officials curtailed statewide layoffs that occurred in late June.
Posts in Traverse city, Kalkaska, Manistee and Petoskey on Monday each welcomed back troopers who'd been laid off on June 28 as the state began to address its budget shortfall.
In all, 55 troopers returned to posts throughout the state on Monday. Thirty-seven troopers remain on layoff.
